Head of Training and Education: (Karl Cordner)
Karl Cordner is an ex Royal Engineer instructor. Throughout his 23 year military career he has gained numerous skills which place Karl in a perfect position to take on the role of Head of ReSART’s Training and Education wing.
Some of the skills that Karl brings to the team include:
Basic, intermediate and advanced Navigation and map reading. First Aid instruction. Helicopter handling (including selection and operation of Helicopter Landing Sites). Mines and explosive ordnance awareness and personnel extraction techniques. Alpine Rescue Instructor and Hostile environment survival skills. Camp craft and logistics.
Karl’s Marine experience includes Level 2 Kayak instructor and small craft operator (assault boats, up to 12-man boats powered by outboard motors) with inland water and coastal training.
Additional skills which Karl brings include the knowledge (both practical and theoretical) gained around the globe through being part of one of the best military engineering bodies which exists (Royal Engineers). Karl is knowledgeable in structural ‘size up’ and advanced structural engineering and shoring systems along with infrastructure integrity assessments such as road, rail, bridges, etc. It is Karl’s responsibility to co-ordinate and facilitate the whole range of skills required to enable ReSART to become a viable functioning Reconnaissance unit.
Karl has just completed of a three year IDEM (International Disaster Engineering Management) degree at Coventry University under the mature student programme.
